Wind Turbine Project
Unifor’s wind turbine on the grounds of the union’s Family Education Centre (FEC) in Port Elgin, Ontario has been in operation since 2012. The wind turbine is an important milestone in our union's efforts to build a more sustainable future that confronts the current Global crisis on climate change.
The wind turbine generates the equivalent of 50%–60% of the FEC's energy needs from a clean, renewable resource. It's an example of how our union puts its political priorities into practice. Unifor's commitment to advocate for green energy development is a key pillar in a national environmental strategy.
